The Facet 1936

The original Facet is difficult to improve upon, but the Facet 1936 watch has been updated with a wider, more contemporary case, slightly flared lugs and softer angles to the triple-faceted glass. The Facet 1936 is housed in an 18 carat, pink gold case with face facets, and the Swiss mechanical movement is hand-wound by a beautifully engineered crown.

There is no centre second hand on the Facet 1936 as a way to ensure the elegance of the Facet 1936. The oscillating balance wheel can bee seen through a small, crystal viewing window in the case back. This ensures it is easy to check whether or not the watch is wound.

Alfred Dunhill´s inspiration for the original Facet wristwatch in 1936 came from craftsman coachbuilders for Rolls-Royce cars who turned to Alfred Dunhill for finishing touches. The Dunhill´s Motorities faceted-lens lamp for the interior of a Rolls-Royce was a work of art which diffused the light to a soft, welcoming glow.
