Retrograd Watches

Paul Gerber was born in Bern, Switzerland in 1950. Paul's father was a watchmaker and he took it upon himself to train Paul in the art of horology. Paul Gerber now resides in Zurich and has established his own watch construction company. Gerber specialises in new developments and miniaturisation, in fact he is noted in the Guiness Book of Records for producing the most complicated wristwatch in the world. Paul Gerber’s exceptional watchmaking art requires an excellent technical know-how as well as creativity and specific artisanal skills. Products of this class are a synthesis of traditional handicraft and modern techniques. It is therefore Paul Gerber’s desire and wish not only to create the designs on the computer, but also to work at the lathe by himself.

Retrograd Watches

The Retrograd is an unusually beautiful timepiece from the stables of Paul Gerber. It is exemplified by an ultra flat elegant case, containing a retrograde second hand which sweeps 60 seconds in a small arc, than zips back to zero. The creration of the Retrograd is only possible thanks to a combination of watchmaking tradition and pioneering computer aided design. The movement of the Retrograd is finished with a very fine "Cotes de Geneve” and a pearl engine turned decor, blued screws.
