With its unique Triplock winding crown, it is waterproof to 300m. The Submariner 's bezel allows a diver to accurately calculate immersion time. Any accidental movement of the bezel on the Rolex Submariner shortens the set dive time but never prolongs it, helping to ensure the diver's safety. On land or under water, the striking appearance of the roatable bezel is a key componant of the visual identity of the Rolex Submariner. The Triplock winding crown on the Rolex Submariner is designed to function at depths freater than most submarines. It screws down like a nauical hatch and incorporates three seperate gaskets to seal out water and foreign matter.
