Ulysse Nardin Genghis Khan

Ulysse Nardin Genghis Khan
Description:
What, I hear you ask, makes the Ulysse Nardin Genghis Khan so special? What makes it warrant such a large price tag? Well Ulysse Nardin have worked hard to create a unique timepiece that, whilst not being the most practical piece in the world, is certainly one of the most beautiful. In fact it would not be an exaggeration to call it art, so refined and elegant is the design.

The bold, oversized onyx dial features four hand carved figures finished in gold. These figures represent Mongolian warriors and are designed to embody the spirit of Genghis Khan, founder of one of the largest empires in history. It features a unique Westminster chime and every time it sets off the figures begin to animate, moving in a variety of different poses and actions.

The crystals that feature in the Ulysse Nardin Genghis Khan are finished in fine molten glass, and the exquisite detailing is flecked with reds, yellows and greys in order to create a unique subtle sparkle. The 18 carat gold case is also actually watertight down to 30 meters, something of a unique feature in such an expensive timepiece.

A snip at 351,000 Euros (2009).
